On Sunday 29th September Lloyd Skinner played in the Devon Restricted tournament and won the Men’s Singles final to be crowned Devon County Men’s Singles Champion beating Zac Phillips in the final.

Lloyd has been close to winning the coveted title but has previously missed out. However, with renewed vigour Lloyd has kept at his training going with renewed intensity and has come out the winner.

Queens Badminton Club Chairmen Nick Masson said: ‘ We are all very proud of Lloyd and what he has achieved. His hard work and dedication has paid off against tough opposition and we are delighted to see his success’

On the same day Sarah Preece four times Devon Champion went after her fifth title and once again was too powerful for her opposition beating another Queens player in the final Grace Lee. Grace had to overcome Devon first team player Betty Blair in the earlier rounds before coming up against Sarah.

Sarah is now five times Devon Ladies Singles Champion.

Chairman Nick Masson said: ‘ Sarah has stepped up to even greater performances this year and we are all delighted that her efforts are being rewarded by these great wins. It is so pleasing to have both Ladies and Mens Singles Champions with more players coming on behind. Sarah continues to be an outstanding player and coach for Queens and the Exeter Performance Centre and this win yet again sets her apart from other players’.
