Child Protection Policy

Queens Badminton Club Child Protection Policy Statement

Safeguarding and Protecting Young People

Queens Badminton Club is committed to ensuring the welfare of all young people who attend, and to enable them to fully enjoy their involvement in club sessions. We endeavour to work in partnership with parents, carers and young people in meeting these aims. We believe that sport can have a positive influence in young people’s lives and enable the development of many important skills and attributes; however we acknowledge that there is the potential for things to go wrong and that it is the responsibility for all involved to ensure that concerns are swiftly identified and remedied.

The club is bound by Badminton England’s Safeguarding and Protecting Young People Policy (2019) which can be found here: https://www.badmintonengland.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/PDFs/safeguarding/Safeguarding%20&%20Protecting%20Young%20People%20Policy.pdf

In order to fulfil this, the club ensures that all its coaches are members of the BE coaching register, have received appropriate training and have undergone enhanced DBS checks organised through Badminton England. Other club officials and helpers who have responsibility for young people are also required to undergo DBS checks.

The club Child Welfare Officer, Rachel Theedom, has responsibility to ensure that the welfare of young people in the club is paramount, and to deal with any child protection concerns that may arise within the club. Any player, parent or coach who has any concerns about the welfare of any young people in the club should contact Rachel in the first instance.
